Heat thermal-resistant coatings are required in a variety of industries ranging from infrastructures to Oil&Gas and transportation. Indeed, the risk of asset and structure failures has to be carefully considered during industrial operation processes, and the use of heat resistant coating systems is of choice in these settings; similarly, in the transportation industry, heat resistant or intumescent materials and coatings are required to retard the spread of flames and smokes in event of fire.

Nanto Paint provides heat resistant, thermally stable coatings specifically formulated/capable to contribute to fire retardancy through a combination of oxygen blockage and absorption of the heat generated by fire thanks to the presence of fire retardant chemicals. The new nano-enhanced formulations allow a reduction in the amount of conventional fire retardant chemicals, as/for instance phosphates, brominated chemicals, amino-phosphate and antimony.

It's worth noting that given the numerous concerns raised worldwide by several Authorities, relative to the toxicity of some of the commonly used fire retardant compounds, like brominated compounds and antimony, reduction or elimination of these conventional fire retardant agents directly translates into safer coating products.

An additional advantage comes from the fact that safer fire retardant compounds are usually expensive and high percentages need to be added (in order) to get an efficient heat resistant product. The nanotechnology-based NP approach allows to greatly reducing the amount of fire retardant used, decreasing the costs, while maintaining coating efficiency in terms of resistance to fire.

Nanto Paint also offers a series of nanotechnology-based protective coatings having simultaneously both anti-corrosion and fire retardant properties. This series of multifunctional coatings has been realized exploiting an array of innovative treatments on nanoclays, specifically designed to improve the barrier properties of coatings to both heat and corrosion agents. Thus, the resulting nano-reinforced composite coatings comprehensively suit the preventative maintenance needs required in the Oil&Gas, Infrastructure, Heavy manufacturing and transportation industries.

NPC W series

Series W provides an active protection against flames spreading in wood structures, the added nanotechnology doesn’t compromise the aesthetic, it combines indeed elegant features without omitting the safety requirements.

Go to NPC W series

NPC S series

Our products of series S have been developed to protect steel structures from fire. The nanotechnology itself increases the resistance up to 30%. Our team of experts has designed coatings for all the industrial and civic application and for every different corrosive environment.

Go to NPC S series

Nanto Paint endeavors to contribute to protect people, environment and properties against the risks deriving from corrosion and fire in a responsible way, providing innovative and sustainable advanced protective coatings.

Care is one of the core values of Nanto Paint philosophy, key to provide long-term success to customers in terms of cost-effectiveness, safety and increased durability. We believe that delivering of coatings containing less hazardous harmful materials and able to delay asset substitutions/replacements directly translates into care for customers, people and environment.

Corrosion can be defined as the degradation of a material (metals, concrete or polymers) due to a reaction with the surrounding environment. Corrosion is an electrochemical process whereby differences in electric potential in small areas on the steel surface involving anodes, cathodes and an electrolyte (medium able to conduct ions) drive the formation of oxide, hydroxyde or sulphide degradation compounds.

Degradation, in turn, implies deterioration of the physical and structural properties of the materials and eventually causes failure of assets and properties, leading to enormous industrial losses with a consequent depletion of natural resources.

According to NACE, the indirect cost of corrosion is estimated to be equal or greater than direct costs, corresponding approximately to 6% of GDP for industrialized countries and impacts a number of industries, including Oil&Gas, heavy manufacturing, transportation and infrastructure.

There are a number of strategies to control corrosion. One major issue is that corrosion can largely vary depending on the environment that causes the corrosion stress (H2S, pollution, chlorine, moisture etc presence in the environment). The choice of a means of corrosion control depends on economics, safety requirements and the kind of environment generating corrosion. The most common strategy consists in shielding the surface from corrosion agents using protective coating systems (passive corrosion protection). To be considered corrosion protective, a coating has to be able to protect the substrate acting as a barrier to oxygen and water, thereby eliminating the corrosion cell. A drawback of the past attempts to control corrosion has been the inclusion of toxic compounds (Cr, Zn) in coating formulations to prevent corrosion. While the efficacy of these compounds is quite recognized, their use has been recently restricted or banned and new less toxic eco-friendly formulations have popped up in the protective coating market.

Nanto Paint® enters the protective coating market delivering first-to-use innovative and nanotechnology-based functional coatings able to fulfill the atmospheric corrosion protection requirements of the most challenging environments thanks to the addition of innovative nanotechnology to the formulation. Nanto Paint® series of coatings are obtained by incorporating specifically functionalized nanoparticles to conventional matrices. The great advantage derives from the flexibility of the chemical functionalization that Nanto Paint® proprietary technology is able to perform on the nanoparticles surface, which results in high quality protective coatings efficiently inhibiting corrosion even in the harshest environments.
